A Monday that's really a Tuesday
Well... I actually took pictures this weekend and had planned to upload them this morning before work and ran out of time. Hopefully I'll add them to the end of the post tonight.
I don't know about any of you, but I needed another day for the weekend -and I didn't really even go anywhere.
Friday Justin headed off to California for 48 hrs (work). I dropped him off at the airport and went home and did nothing for the most part.
Saturday I made another trip to the gym. I couldn't find my chest strap for the heart rate monitor last week, but I had it on Saturday. I'm not sure what's going on here... if it's that I can get SO out of shape in two and a half months without the gym, or the pregnancy thing, but I'm not up to par quite yet. I should be keeping my heart rate below 160 (when I am in a spinning class it can easily and quickly go above 200) and I thought all it would take was to just not 'overdue it'. Ummm... I guess I was wrong. My heart rate jumped above 160 by the time I climbed ONTO the elliptical machine. So... I tried to take it easier for about 25 minutes and then biked for another half hour. I also made it to IKEA with Andrea and actually crossed 2 things of of my large list of stuff to get (although Justin didn't like one of them, so we're taking it back). At least we have bar stools now.
I went up to my parents after church on Sunday and we went to our cabin (where I took the photo's) for a BBQ. I don't see my dad's family enough, so it was nice to be up there, and the weather was really nice up the canyon. I had to pick Justin up at the airport that night around 11 so I stayed at my parents until I had to leave. (I was still late picking him up, but ONLY because it took me 20 minutes to drive the first 2 miles on the freeway because of an accident)
Monday morning we had breakfast at his mom's and then headed up north again for our Indiana Jones Day (movie and another BBQ). Just for the record, I enjoyed the movie. It wasn't the best, but there were funny parts and it was entertaining -which is really all the older ones were.
By Monday evening Justin and I were TIRED. Lack of sleep on his part for the weekend, and all it takes for me to be dog-tired is one late night and a full days worth of activities. I still feel like I'm dragging, and it's the afternoon already.
I need to go to bed early tonight.
Right after I post pictures.

From one obsession to another
I've held back on posting about this great event, but if Justin can post about American Idol of all things... then you get a post about Lester.
Who is Lester, you ask?
Jon Lester is the 18th Red Sox pitcher to ever throw a no-hitter. Which he did against the Royals on Tuesday night. I didn't get to see the game because, well, Utah hates baseball. And, if they ever show baseball on TV, its the Rockies. Whoopie. Can we please see some GOOD teams play every once in a while?
Oh... and what's better than having a no-hitter and being in first place in the standings? The fact the New York Yankee's are in last place. Yep... somehow, that just feels better.
Why I Like Archie Better
Those of you who missed American Idol last night (either purposely - like Melanie, or accidentally), here was the highlight:
Honestly, he is the better singer of the two. Now there are those who can say that they would buy David Cook's album - and trust me they will have that opportunity - but it is a COMPETITION, and Archuleta won hands down.
When I started watching I thought to myself that David Cook would show an obvious maturity and stage presence that sometimes Archie lacks. However, after the first two songs I thought - he could actually win this thing. By the end I think it was in the bag for David A. We'll see though, stranger things have happened in this competition, and it does have its limits (limited phone lines, etc.), so even though your David might not be winning, don't fret, they both get contracts.

Why I love dogs
Someone emailed me this, and I just thought it was too funny. I've always been a 'dog person' (even though we did have our fair share of stray cats and kittens over the years). Plus... either because Charlie's birthday this month, or just the weird pregnancy hormones, I've had dreams about Charlie and other dogs in general for the past 3 weeks. I think it's a sign. We need a dog. But... I don't want one until after the baby comes. I think.

CAT DIARY
Day 983 of my captivity. My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. Bastards! There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow - but this time at the top of the stairs.I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. . . . . . for now. . .

An old friend
Today I did something that I haven't done for over a month, and I'm used to doing almost every day (5-6 days a week anyway). I went to the gym. Oh... how I've missed it. I know that sounds weird, but I really have. I'm not sure if I quite have the energy level to be getting up again at 6 am (or 5:15 on spinning days) but I hope to get there 2-3 days a week for the next few months at least. I didn't stay long and didn't even break a sweat (it's pretty hard when you have to keep your heart rate down) but I was glad I finally made it back there.
Also... I'm HOPING we said goodbye to an 'old friend' today for good. Due to the lack of energy (and desire to do ANYTHING, really) it's taken 3 or 4 trips to our old apartment to finish cleaning it. I went over today and Justin met me to do the last few things (the oven and... dusting the drapery rods (seriously? who does that?)

It's just time
I don't feel like I have anything to really blog about, but it just feels like it's been a while since I've posted.
We're pretty much moved in to the new place with a limited number of unpacked boxes which have been placed in the 2 spare bedrooms (out of site, out of mind). We haven't even STARTED on our list of 'stuff' we need (hooks, organization helps for various spots, mirror for the downstairs bathroom), but at least there is a list... somewhere. Come to think of it, I haven't seen that list for a while.
It's time for me to start feeling better. I'm willing it to happen. I hit the 12 week mark this week, so according to all of my books, that means I get energy back and I start to feel less nauseous. It's going to happen. It has to. I can't go on for another 6 months like this. I'm looking forward to the 2nd trimester reprieve.
Also... we have TV and internet. It actually came on Friday -which was quite a surprise to us. The internet is super fast... fiber optics or something like that. We're a little disenchanted with the TV service. It's just not quite as user-friendly as our last service, but we'll get the hang of it. Thanks for the all of the offers to come and watch my Thursday night addictions with you (even those who offered that would have been quite a commute). We ended up taking the TV back to the old apartment and watching while we cleaned.

Going without
Okay... so I really don't think I've 'gone without' any of the necessities of life, and for that matter, most of the comforts.
I've always had medical insurance -even dental, and the only time I ever went without my 6 month check up was on my mission. I've never gone without food. I may have had different budgets for groceries or eating out -especially in college, but I've never worried about having money to provide myself with food.
I've gone without a car for short periods of time - when mine has been in the shop or out of commission -but even then, I've had family or roommates that I could rely on to borrow cars or get me where I needed to be.
Even now, I may not have fancy jeans or designer purses, but I never have to wear the same things every day, and I can afford to clean my clothes on a regular basis (but not iron them -which that has nothing to do with money or ability).
Justin and I have been without the internet and TV for... 4 days now, and it's KILLING us! To be absolutely honest, we've done fine because we both have the internet at work and we don't watch TV during the first part of the week (but don't mess with my Thursdays). But, I think we've only fared this well because of (1) most nights I'm so tired that I just want to eat and then sleep, and (2) we know it should be a short time before we have it again.
I know I'm a product of my environment, and I'm far too reliant on technology -but I also know I'm not the only one out there. I don't even keep phone books in the house -because it's far easier to 'Google it'. And I'm not just missing TV -I need my DVR! To all of those who have not subscribed to the TiVo, DVR, or other digital recording device -you have my pity, and my admiration. It's definitely one of those things that you can totally live without... until you have one! I'm actually concerned with the fact that our new service's DVR doesn't have a dual tuner in it (from what I can figure out from the internet -yes, I'm at work) and we won't be able to record 2 things at once.
In my defense, Justin and I watch very little TV. But... when I watch TV, I want to watch what I like -I hate, hate, HATE, surfing channels and finding something to watch that you really don't want to, just because you were busy the night before and missed one of the few shows you WANTED to watch. Hense... DVR is awesome! (Plus -I hate commercials -but who doesn't).
We're scheduled to be visited today by the 2 companies that need to finish hooking up our service, and we should be up and running by this evening -although I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't happen that smoothly.
If it's not up by Thursday evening... can I come over and watch a couple of hours of TV?

Big Matt
In true fashion, this is late. My mom went into details as to Matt always getting the short end of the stick when it comes to his birthdays. So... although you had to help me move on your birthday, and my present for you still hasn't arrived, Happy Birthday, Big Matt. (Big Matt is the self-appointed nick name he chose to be called by any and all neices and nephews -and he decided that way before there was one on the way)
We did attempt to make him a superMatt cake. Its.... not great, and actually looks better in a picture that it did in real life. Turns out I don't have the patience to frost a cake with all of those stars! Jodi and Jenny helped quite a bit. (I'll post the picture later -I haven't uploaded it and we don't have the internet at the new house yet)

Whoosh Whoosh Whoosh Whoosh...
Today Melanie and I went to our first doctors appointment and things are looking "normal". We talked about all the family history, diet, what to expect, etc...and we heard the heartbeat! At first our doctor was cautious telling us that we may not hear it yet, but then there it was all healthy and sweet.
The due date was made official as November 28, 2008. Which, though unlikely, is still very exciting (and easy for me to remember). Maybe our baby can have the same birthday as me and uncle Dustin. Wouldn't that be wild? There's a 20% chance...it could happen...
It's kind of a surreal idea to think about conceiving and giving birth to another human being. It's also interesting to think this much about someone who isn't born yet. Is it like when you hear someone's voice a lot and create an image in your mind and then when you meet them in person it's someone different? I like to think that it's someone who I'm already very close to and I'm just seeing them again after a long time (relatively).
We will see you soon enough!

Anythings better than working or packing, so I thought I'd respond to Buffy's post -although I'm not tagging anyone else.
Where I was 10 years ago:
Uh... getting ready to graduate from high school -yes that means my 10-year reunion is coming up. More specifically, we were probably finding out that Andrea was moving to Germany... getting ready for Cotillion (or maybe we already went) and just hanging out with friends.
Things on my to do list:
1) go to my first doctor's appointment
2) pack, pack, clean, and then pack some more. We're moving tomorrow morning.
Things I would do if I was a billionaire:
If I was still working, I'd quit. Justin would too probably and pursue other businesses. We'd pay off the house we just signed for yesterday. Go to Brazil, New Zealand, and Boston -because I'd be buying season tickets for the Red Sox. A bunch of other stuff, that's all I can think of right now.
3 of my bad habits:
There's too many to list just 3
5 places I've lived:
Roy, UT
Logan, UT
New Zealand
Holladay, UT
Midvale, UT (starting tomorrow)
5 jobs I've had:
Telemarketer in various forms and companies
Director of various summer camps
Caseworker for the State of Utah
-that's five
Something people don't know about me:
There's a few of you that know this already, but we're not going to use traditional disposable diapers when we have the baby. It's not cloth... they're called gDiapers.

Cakes and (hand) cramps
I imagine that signing your life away (as they say) on a 30-year mortgage might deserve it's own post... but I had my last cake class (for Course 1 anyway) last night and wanted to post pictures.
I have to apologize to my co-workers who sampled my last cake because somehow Justin got it in his head that HE got to take my cake to work. And... given my energy level, I didn't put up much of a fight.
There it is... in all of it's glory. I'm getting better at the white layer -the top was pretty good, but the sides still had crumbs in it. And I did finally seem to manage the 'Wilton Rose' -although if you could see them in person, they still kind of look like carnations.
As far as the cramps... I have to say, I expected a bit more from the Title company. After the runaround we've received from the mortgage company (I'll leave names out to protect the innocent -and not so innocent) today's closing went very smoothly -and quickly. I guess I figured I'd sign my name a lot more, and there would be some kind of looming soundtrack in the background. But, we walked in, signed, chatted for a few minutes, and were done 30 minutes later. Kind of anti-climatic if you ask me.
