Easter revisited

True to our little family tradition, we didn't just celebrate once.

Sunday morning the kids had a few goodies (no candy) in their easter basket.
I attempted (and failed, for the most part) to get some pictures. I didn't really buy specific easter outfits this year. We have family pictures and a wedding next month and they both have very cute spring-y outfits that they won't be wearing until minutes before the camera starts shooting.

After church we headed over to celebrate with Justin's mom's family. A few photo opp's with grandmas, and yet another Easter egg hunt.

Then off to the Hardcastles for a serious egg dying contest.

We had a dremel, silk ties, vinyl, and paperclips out. And, of course, a few traditional egg dying kits from the store. Here are the results...

We had a 3 way tie between 2nd place (my mom only had 2 prizes).
Justin's won 1st place
and Jenn's won second.

My right arm

I dropped my phone Friday night (Saturday morning -3am).

It broke.

And, it wasn't like a hairline fracture, the front glass was crushed!
3 days and $99 later, I have a working phone again. And, everything else. I'm like every other iPhone user, it contains most of my life and a lot of my time wasting apps!

Easter in Wales

Don't know where Wales is? Neither did I until today. Justin's grandparents (the Richmonds) live in Wales and I had never been there before.

It wasn't the best weather for an Easter Egg hunt (or a game of soccer, kite flying, or swings), but Hyrum didn't seem to mind much.

There was a great lunch and an easter egg hunt with a TON of candy and toys, and presents.

Grandpa Lafeen went a little overboard and pretty much brought out a new present for Hyrum every 30 minutes for the few hours we were there. An awesome race track with cars...

A soccer ball, "Thomas the Train" ball, Cars pajamas, Sand pail and shovel and a Kite. Not to mention all of the goodies the grandma's and aunts sprinkled around the yard.

Kate even scored a few new outfits and baby toys.

Best part of the day? Both kids slept almost the entire way home!

Tie Dye (without the messing fingers)

I found a new way to dye eggs a couple of years ago. Remember these?
Well, I saw this on ourbestbites.com this week, and knew I had to try them. Lucky for me, our Young Womens had their 2nd annual egg dying contest tonight.

I thought I'd be able to get ties at Savers for a dollar. I was not. (Seriously, $6 for a Savers tie?) So, I only made 3. Maybe I'll have to raid Justin's tie collection later and look for a few others.
This couldn't have been easier -and wasn't messy at all.

5K

It hasn't been very good weather this week. After a week of somewhat warm days and a few walks to the park, the snow came back. Not really out of the ordinary for a Utah spring to tell you the truth.

I've been running at the gym and made it up to 4 miles a few times on the treadmill, but I hadn't run outside at all. Plus, with Justin out of town all week, I hadn't run at all for 6 or 7 days.

That being said, I felt pretty good about my time. I was able to run a little over half before I stopped and walked for a bit. I hate when that happens, because it's hard to get your momentum back afterwards. So... the last mile was a lot of jogging and walking. But, I still finished in about 35 minutes, averaging a 11.25 minute mile. Not too bad for me. It w
as actually a bit warmer this year, since we started an hour later. I didn't really get that cold until after I finished and we stood around waiting for the awards ceremony.
Wade, Karen, and Paul came too this year. Jodi and Jessica would have come -but the bad weather kept them away. Plus, my mom volunteered to watch my kids so I could run.

A Farewell to Winter (We hope!)

Hyrum and Kate (Melanie) gave me a homemade snowman kit for Christmas, and we really haven't been in a good situation to try it out...until today...April 3rd! I have to say it works PERFECTLY. Hyrum loved helping dad roll the "big ball" and put the various parts of "Santas Snowman" on him.

I love Hyrum, and thanks to Melanie for making it ALL possible!

Spring is in the air

The days are getting longer.

We walked to the park for the first time this year.

Red Sox baseball starts tomorrow.

I didn't wear a jacket tonight when I went to the gym.

I haven't heard the heater click on all day.

Hyrum rode his bike to get the mail. (Well, he sort of rode/walked it).

Did I mention Red Sox opener is tomorrow? Another week and it'll be their first home game, against the Yankees. I have a feeling it's going to be a good year!
