Oops

Elder Lafeen (Bryan) came home from his mission last weekend. Justin was still in Chicago (he arrived in Salt Lake about 30 minutes after Bryan did).

The Little Man and I went to the airport to see them. Without a cell phone. (Mine hadn't been working all week). We got there early and were the only ones there. Weird... I couldn't believe his parents, sister, friends, and grandparents weren't there yet.

First I wondered if there was a traffic problem on the freeway or the main highway they would have taken to the airport.

Then I started thinking that Bryan must have missed his connecting flight (he was already a day late due to the air traffic problems in Europe/England.)Because I didn't have a phone with me, there was no way anyone could get a hold of me and let us know.

That was my ONLY explanation I came up with. I was where I should have been, and everyone else was lost or delayed.

So... we waited around another 30 minutes for Justin to get here. And then HE wasn't coming as scheduled. Again, I'm assuming it all had to with problems with domestic flights, but I was still in the right place.

I was so wrong.

Most of you are probably familiar with the Salt Lake International Airport. Compared to a lot of airports, it's really not that big. Or confusing. There are only 3 terminals, and really only 2 are used very often. The Delta terminal... and everything else.

I was in the everything else terminal.

Bryan and Justin flew in on Delta.

Once Justin get to his family and realized I wasn't there he had me paged over the intercom. I didn't think of this of course, because I assumed no one else was in the airport -just me and the Little Man. It never even occurred to me I was in the wrong terminal. In fact, I forgot there WAS another terminal.
So... the Little Man and I arrived after everyone else in the Delta Terminal to see Bryan.

Man, it was a long night.

I must have been too confused and frustrated to actually take pictures, because I really didn't get any. Expect for these...
This is a vending machine that serves chicken sandwiches. No thank you.
This is the tile throughout the airport. I get it -we live in the Rockies, it's a mountain 'scene'. I was just wondering how much time and money was spent on this. I don't think anyone would have minded if the floor was just tile. You can look outside to see the mountains.
The Little Man was AMAZED at the moving walkway. He loved it.
I think he was thinking, "Uh, mom, why don't we try to walk down to the next terminal. Maybe you wouldn't have to entertain me by yourself an hour after my bedtime. "
Welcome home, Bryan!

Cut off

I've known for quite a while that I'm addicted to technology and being connected to others.

I don't think I'm alone with this addiction.

I do have my limits -I don't twitter, but I love facebook.

I have a smartphone, but it's an 'old' blackberry, which I use as a phone (surprised?), to check email, and by google reader. That's about it. Oh, and maybe the score (and sometimes play by play) of certain Red Sox games.

Since Friday my phone has been randomly turning off and even after I take the battery out and get it back on I can only sometimes make calls or check texts. The other day it worked for almost 24 hours (I was so excited) and then I woke up yesterday and it wouldn't work most of the morning. I backed it up on the computer and upgraded the software.

It worked!

For about 18 hours.

I haven't been able to get it to work in any capacity for about 8 hours now.

I'm not hopeful for tomorrow.

And to make matters better? I can't get our home phone to work either. (Long story).

I hope 911 accepts emails just in case anything happens tonight.

Since Easter

We 'ran' a 5k. In reality, I walked the 5k while Grandma turned around with the Little Man less than 10 minutes into it. He wasn't into the early morning walk.
We played in the dirt.
The Little Man tried eating some dirt. (This has happened several times so far).
We celebrated Grandma Hardcastle's birthday.
That is made from scratch, Devils Food Cake. The batter practically floated out of the pan. The frosting took me 45 minutes to make. Seriously, my KitchenAid was running for 40 minutes straight. It was delicious.

We cleaned and organized the tupperware cupboard. And the pantry. That was a better picture too, the entire floor was covered with smashed potato chips and sliced almonds.

Spring

The weather may not be cooperating, but with Easter and the Season Opener between the Red Sox and the Yankee's, it's officially spring at the Lafeens.

Watching General Conference

Saying a prayer

Easter Egg "Hunt" at Grandma and Grandpa Lafeen's Playing with cousins at Easter Dinner

It seems like every few years I'm a little more excited than usual for baseball to start, this is one of those years. Maybe that's a good sign!

Stolen

I saw this mentioned here, and she actually took it from here.

Here's a few of my favorites.

-I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option.

-I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

-Is it just me, or are 80% of the people in the "people you may know" feature on Facebook people that I do know, but I deliberately choose not to be friends with?

-There is a great need for sarcasm font.

-I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.

-Was learning cursive really necessary?

-Lol has gone from meaning, "laugh out loud" to "I have nothing else to say".

-How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear what they said?

-MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. Pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

-I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.

-Bad decisions make good stories.

-You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you've made up your mind that you just aren't doing anything productive for the rest of the day.

-Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after DVDs? I don't want to have to restart my collection.

-It should probably be called Unplanned Parenthood.

-I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

-Even if I knew your social security number, I wouldn't know what do to with it.

-I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

-The other night I ordered takeout, and when I looked in the bag, saw they had included four sets of plastic silverware. In other words, someone at the restaurant packed my order, took a second to think about it, and then estimated that there must be at least four people eating to require such a large amount of food. Too bad I was eating by myself. There's nothing like being made to feel like a fatty before dinner.
