San Diego 2013 Day 1

We dropped Little Papi off at a neighbors (our fish) and headed to the airport around 9:30 am.

The big kids were excited and the little kid tolerated the airport well, although he was a bit on the tired side. We were all crossing our fingers that he would sleep for at least part of the plane ride.

I was a little anxious because I realized the night before we would have to bring all three car seats with us (I was a bit too confident that the rental car would have built in booster seats and after two phone calls I realized that was actually a long shot. So, we had 3 car seats, 2 big suitcases (checked) a carryon, back pack, kids pack pack with toys, and the stroller. Yeah, it was a lot of stuff.

We made it through security without a problem and only had about 15 minutes to wait before boarding.

The big kids LOVED the plane ride and did awesome the entire time. Milo was a little less excited a bit ornery but fell asleep about 20 minutes in and stayed asleep until about 20 minutes before landing. Not too bad.

Picked up luggage, rode the shuttle to get the rental van, and found the hotel pretty quick. Finding a place to grab lunch was another story. Being in California we had to get on 2 freeways to find a fast food with drive up, but thanks to Siri we did it quite easily.

Milo took a nap while Justin took Hyrum and Kate to play in the pool. After a quick bath and before dinner we went to the Mormon Battalion Historical site. I had never heard of it before, but Justins aunt mentioned it to us the day before we left and the kids liked the tour for the most part.

We had grand plans for dinner but Milo wasn't cooperating so we opted for take out. After a couple of Yelp and google map fails we got a pizza for the kids and Thai takeout from a strip mall that was actually quite delicious for us.

2 kids asleep and 1 to go back in the hotel, so all in all I'd call it a success.
