San Diego 2013 Day 3

Today was our non-park day, and it was meant to be a bit more relaxed and unscheduled, which it was, for the most part.

Milo must have been excited because thanks to a too busy day the day before and daylight savings he woke up at 5 am. The positive side was we put him down for a decent nap after breakfast and before we even went out for the day.

We decided to tour the USS Midway, a retired aircraft carrier.  Mom and dad were totally interested, and I was actually surprised at how much Hyrum liked it too, at least at the beginning. I guess the average time spent on the tour was 3-4 hours, and some people can spend all day there. We managed about 2 hours and were able to see just about everything, at least briefly.

My brother in law, Kris, wore a Green uniform, the flight deck, when he deployed on the Nimitz.

Hanging out on a helicopter that Justin often flew on in Afghanistan.

A lot more pictures to come from this one...

The Beach!!! Hyrum was so excited for the beach. We were looking for a quick lunch on Coronado Island before heading to the beach and decided to go on to the  North Island Naval Base (because we could). Lunch wasn't very 'local' but we also decided to stay on base and had free, beach front parking and a nearly private beach to ourselves.

Even more pictures to be uploaded soon -and a video.

What made this day even better?? It snowed today in Utah. Maybe we should extend our vacation!
